Queensland risks failing its “obligation to the world” to conserve the state’s biodiversity if a time frame for its environmental protection goal is not set, experts say.
The state is aiming to protect 17 per cent of its landmass through national parks and other conservation projects, but it is a long-term goal without a deadline.
The state’s peak tourism body, Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), is now calling for the government to set “a clear and accountable time frame”.
